Camp Emerald Bay is introducing a brand new event this summer for SCUBA Divers and their friends and families. Join us on the West End of Catalina Island for three days immersed in the kelp forests and rock reefs that make California diving so distinct. This is a weekend for diving, learning new skills, testing out sick new gear and enjoying outdoor activities on Catalina Island.
The Emerald Bay Diver Center is located below the Pennington Marine Science Center, which hosts some of the largest exhibit spaces of any aquarium on Catalina Island. This fully stocked facility is only a few steps away from Doctor’s Cove and Table Rock, where you can explore rock reefs, kelp forests, and our local sailboat wreck either with a buddy or under the guidance of a professional. Spend your surface interval kayaking, shooting, hiking, or simply catching rays in the bay. There are enough activities at the camp to keep non-divers engaged and having a blast for the entire weekend, too!
Sustainability Video at Emerald Bay
The Sustainability Merit Badge will be making its grand opening at the National Jamboree this year, and Camp Emerald Bay will be featured in the opening ceremonies. In case you did not know, the creators of the Sustainability Merit Badge looked closely at the environmental programs and measures that we have taken on at Camp Emerald Bay to see how water conservation, waste management, sustainable gardening and alternative energy could integrate with wider Scouting programs. Therefore, the merit badge will be introduced at the Jamboree with a video at Emerald Bay that illustrates hoe sustainability has become part of our camp culture. A film crew came out to camp last weekend to film the video, which features some of our former Ecology and Conservation Directors as well as BHG, the Environmental Consulting firm that has helped us create our program. The video will outline in detail several of the processes and ideas required for the merit badge, so Scouts across the country will have access to it to prepare for the merit badge classes on their own. Keep an eye peeled for the sneak peak, which will be available here on our website in a few weeks!

Our Fall and Spring programs are exceptionally diverse, providing opportunities for YMCA groups, Boy Scout and Girl Scout Troops, Cub Scout Packs, club fundraisers, family get-togethers, and even the occasional wedding!
We are committed to providing experiences that build character, foster citizenship, and provide for personal growth through challenging and stimulating programs.
Our summertime opportunities are centered on programs for the Boy Scouts of America.
